5 Reasons Hell Yes Fest is going to make you laugh out loud

The New Movement Hosts INVADE’s favorite Comedy Festival Nov. 12-16

Here at INVADE, we love to laugh. That’s why we’re more than excited for this year’s Hell Yes Fest hosted by our favorite local comedy venue, The New Movement (TNM). The bearded comedian and co-founder of TNM, Chris Trew, decided that this year Hell Yes Fest would take things up a notch, featuring national talent like Giulia Rozzi, Sean O’Connor, Colt Cabana, and many more.

The event will bring together a myriad of standup, sketch and improv performers from all over the country at venues across New Orleans including: Siberia, The New Movement, Café Instanbul, Allways Bar, Allways Lounge, Hi-Ho Lounge, and The Shadowbox, with special satellite shows at Howlin’ Wolf Den, House of Blues and Lost Love Lounge.

Here are our top 5 reasons Hell Yes Fest is going to make you laugh out loud.

1. For $10 you can see the local all-star talent

The kickoff show features all our favorite local talent including: Cyrus Cooper, Leon Blanda, Molly Ruben-Long, Mickey Henehan, Andrew Polk, Jodi Borello, Dane Faucheux, and more

2. The standup is going to be amazing!

Comedians of all shapes, size and talents will be slinging jokes throughout the fest.

Our top picks:  Whitmer Thomas & Friends, Stoned vs Drunk vs Sober, and O’Connor/Andy Sell/Elias.

3. There will be tons of improv and sketch.

TNM is probably most notably known for their improv and group shows.

Our top picks: Stupid Time Machine, Quiet on the Set (Silent Improv), and Bad Example + rude.

4. Comedy goes narrative with a slew of films and shorts.

With a recent resurgence in indie cinema we’re excited to see a few funny films and shorts.

Our top picks: Hell Yes Film Fest – SHORTS NIGHT, Hell Yes Film Fest – PILOT NIGHT , and HYFF: Colt Cabana & Friends.

5. Funny takes every form.

Moving beyond traditional standup, there are a number of new additions to this year’s event including: podcast recordings, story telling and variety shows.

Our top picks: Greetings from Queer Mountain, LateBit: Gaming & Comedy, and Competitive Erotic Fan Fiction.

But it gets better:

TNM will also be hosting a pre-festival Power Hour at Mojo coffee house at 1500 Magazine St. from 7-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10.
